Nation-Building and State-Building

Speaking about nationalism implicitly means speaking about the state and different levels of semi-states. Since nation and state are subject to the ideology of nationalism, both have to be conceptionalized as distinctive units. Furthermore, a clear differentiation between nation and state results in two distinctive concepts of nation building and state building.

Der Artikel analysiert die Strukturen des "nation-building" und "state-building" - Prozesses in Indonesien. Methodisch verwendet er eine Kategorie von Karl W. Deutsch und eine Differenzierung von Peter Alter verwendend, und unterscheidet den Prozeß des "nation-building" von dem des "state-building".
